Please note, this data should NOT be interpreted as static, and is under CONSTANT and ONGOING review
Questions regarding on-going radioactive contamination and exposures from Fukushima:
For purposes of discussion, I'm willing to partially concede the dilution argument. I believe both the dilution argument and the denial of it are statements which are inaccurate as they are simplistic and do not address the following considerations. This is NOT meant to be definitive, it is intended instead to foster discussion between whomever would like to discuss point by point what is truly happening, it's long term implications and inspire investigation. I will also for the purpose of civility acknowledge my bias(s) and a brief statement of what I'm attempting to do/address.
Operating from an admitted bias is difficult enough, but at the same time I'm also trying to address and help quash fear-mongering posts, sensationalism, inaccurate sourcing or the lack thereof. I'm after the unvarnished truth, whatever that may be. I trust that when taken as a whole, and then broken down into individual or collective items, my concerns are relevant, timely and responsible. The links will go directly to my Forum to familiarize people with the large body of data therein, but each reference internal to the Forum are direct links to the source.
I have very little faith that we are being told or provided ALL the data we need to be properly informed, that blanket statements from government(s) industry(s) and other entities are NOT sufficient. I operate FROM these qualifiers, and will continue to do so until it is proven otherwise to me.
Herein, you will also find conflicting data sources, even within organizations themselves. That alone aside from other consideration should be reason enough to give a rational person pause. If someone views this document and decides it is their mission to discredit it because they find conflicting data sources, I don't really know what to do for them. It is neither logical or scientific to predicate your opinion based on the perception of the truth of a matter is the sum of all of it's parts, or the expectation that all sources on a matter as complex as this is going to line up and agree.
Flawed basic assumptions and difficulties:
*The assumption of reliable data on release(s) water/atmospheric from industries, governments, the IAEA and independent sources
*The assumption of static systems(s) water/atmospheric
*The assumption of static discharge(s) water/atmospheric
*The assumption of static contamination(s) water/atmospheric/biological
*The failure to consider nuclear waste dumping by multiple nations
*The failure to consider nuclear weapons testing by multiple nations water/atmospheric
*The availability of data which specifically identifies Fukushima as the source in question. Radioactive signatures specific to forensic sciences.
*The assumption that TEPCO is financially prepared to handle this situation for decades
*The assumption that no similar earthquake/tsunami event will further this disaster or create similar problems elsewhere in Japan or other seismically unstable regions
*The assumption that the spent fuel rods/assemblies from the Fukushima reactors are under control, no longer hazardous and proper methods of containment/sequestration are in place and working
The Body:
The assumption of reliable data on release(s) water/atmospheric from industries, governments, the IAEA and independent sources
It seems to be assumed that there is reliable, irrefutable data from US/Japanese and other governments, from TEPCO, from the IAEA and other bodies pertaining to both the initial and on-going atmospheric and water (oceanic and groundwater) releases of radioactive materials. While there are assets available to the public for that purpose, there are also numerous problems.

The assumption of static systems(s) water/atmospheric
Often arguments are put forward that seem to assume the oceanic or atmospheric systems radiation is introduced into are static, that radiation will somehow be diluted by this state. Neither assumption is of course correct, in fact much of the global warming/climate change argument is dependent upon the understanding that these systems are not static, but global systems. Jet-streams and prevailing winds influence the atmosphere at various altitudes. Likewise, oceanic currents distribute the world's oceans globally, simply put, what you spill “HERE” ends up “OVER THERE” in time. Some of this will be somewhat effected depending upon the specific type of radioactive material(s) or isotope(s) involved, but generally speaking neither system of water and atmosphere are static systems. A large radioactive plume will almost certainly circumnavigate the entire globe, although areas of concentration may vary widely.

The assumption of static discharge(s) water/atmospheric
Often arguments are put forward that seem to assume that this is/was a one time event, or that somehow it's not a growing/ongoing threat, that although we don't hear news that tells us so, that everything is under control, nothing to see here, please move along, you don't have an understanding of how all this works anyway. Along these line is the rational that because there isn't a 'measurable risk right now' that we aren't moving in that direction, or we will never get there. This is generally stated/argued in conjunction with the previous assumption, the two arguments are kind of hand in glove, and you guessed it, the next assumption is going to build upon the last two … and so on; but we're not quite there yet. We have to illustrate the problems with THIS one first:

The assumption of static contamination(s) water/atmospheric/biological
Compounding what we have already established regarding the non-static nature of the ongoing radioactive release(s) atmospheric, oceanic and in groundwater, there is the issue(s) of radiation migration throughout the biosphere. Radioactive contamination in it's many forms is moving globally through the interactions and consumption cycles in oceanic systems and will also if it is not doing so already through bird species and land based species (including mankind) which consume contaminated aquatic species. Migratory patterns of all species are driven in part by the oceanic current systems, making the likelihood of this global migration of radioactive contamination all the more assured.
In North America (The US and Canada) SOME testing for radioactive contamination in fish species and other aquatic foodstuffs is small scale, not nearly adequate to the task in relation to consumption. Many groups are calling for wide-scale testing on sea-food products produced in both the US and Canada, so far with very mixed results. The governments of the US and Canada assure the general population that the dangers a minimal, as evidence mounts that it is NOT. None of this addresses sea-food(s) produced and imported from other parts of the world, where testing if any is not up to US or Canadian standards.
These radioactive contaminates do not dissipate in the Biosphere/food chain as some claim, rather the exact opposite occurs. Radioactive contamination concentrates in the Biosphere/food chain. Some argument is made that this only happens in areas of heavy concentrations of radioactive contamination, however many oceanic species migrate, and some Salmonidæ in particular end their life-cycle in fresh water rivers and stream, where they are consumed in tons by land species including mankind. These creatures spread the again concentrated radioactive contamination throughout the land based biosphere.

The failure to consider nuclear waste dumping by multiple nations
Thirteen nations have used Oceanic dumping/sequestration of nuclear/radioactive waste in the past. A moratorium on the practice has been in place since 1993. Several treaties were ratified which contributed to this world wide ban:
The Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and Other Matter 1972
The Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and Their Disposal 1992
Marpol 73/78 is the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution From Ships, 1973 as modified by the Protocol of 1978
Building upon the data and assumptions so far, the next thing to address is everything the Fukushima disaster is contributing to Global Nuclear/Radioactive Contamination is just that, a HUGE and ongoing, largely unabated contribution. The theoretical assumption is that these materials are all so dense that they will 'self sequester' at depths which render them 'harmless' owing to the insulting properties of water and distance.
Once again there seem to be some holes in the logic, that IF nuclear/radioactive contamination was indeed 'safe' deep at sea, why would the entire world come together and ratify three separate treaties to prevent the deliberate practice?

The failure to consider nuclear weapons testing by multiple nations water/atmospheric
Here we could almost echo what we've said regarding the dumping of Nuclear/Radioactive toxins into the environment, but this is more incideous and the whole purpose of these tests was to experiment with bigger and more lethal weapons for the express purpose of killing millions of human beings. What more needs to be said about it?
I'll open the topic here in what some may feel is a rhetorical exercise, but I ask you to remember I'm a member of the community of the US Military who's whole purpose was the delivery of these weapons to our enemies in a Nuclear exchange, 24/7/365 for decades. Watch this film all the way through, several times if necessary and allow it to really sink in and make an impact. Think about it's implications for human beings and mankind, and then think about the various test sites around the world which will be uninhabitable for eons:

The assumption that TEPCO is financially prepared to handle this situation for decades
Before we address TEPCO's ability to handle this disaster for decades, we should first consider how they are handling it now. TEPCO have repeatedly run out of money borrowing billions from the Japanese government. They are currently building a new brand name under which to sell electricity to Japan to boost profitability. I think one can easily make the case that TEPCO is not even minimally prepared to handle this disaster, either now or in the future.

Having considered all of these things I have come to several conclusions for myself.
Number one, when President Obama said these words he either did not know (unlikely) or he lied.
"Second, I know that many Americans are also worried about the potential risks to the United States. So I want to be very clear: We do not expect harmful levels of radiation to reach the United States, whether it’s the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, or U.S. territories in the Pacific. Let me repeat that: We do not expect harmful levels of radiation to reach the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, or U.S. territories in the Pacific. That is the judgment of our Nuclear Regulatory Commission and many other experts. "

Some people question my use and quotation of Dr. Michio Kaku as though I'm unaware of his background and biases. I'm not unaware, but the 'shock value' of this claim while somewhat hyperbolic does give you an idea at least of just how grave I feel this situation is.
