Fukushima Diary : Seaweed farm dead in Hachinohe city / Rotten and blighted / Fisher “Haven’t seen such a damage”Posted by Mochizuki on April 24th, 2014 Cultivated seaweed such as kelp or wakame are massively dead in the coastal area of Hachinohe city Aomori prefecture. The local fishery cooperative state most of the cultivated seaweed has been blighted, rotten, whitened since the end of this March. The production of last year was approx. 2,790 t but it is assumed to be less than 1/3 this year. A few of the local fishery cooperative’s members say it might be due to the heavy rain and snow until this March, however they comment there hasn’t been such a damage before. prayforjp.exblog.jp/20614834Iori Mochizuki fukushima-diary.com/2014/04/seaweed-farm-dead-in-hachinohe-city-rotten-and-blighted-fisher-havent-seen-such-a-damage/
