RADIATION RAIN : FUKUSHIMA RADIATION IN U.S. GRASS FED BEEF AND DAIRY
APRIL 18, 2014 GRAHAM BRIMHALL
In California, and all over the western United States, if the grass is contaminated then it’s a pretty good bet that there’s Fukushima radiation in U.S. grass fed beef and dairy. Three years have passed, there’s been a lot of radiation released from the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant and many a rain storm that has blown in off the Pacific Ocean. Are radiation levels in the U.S. up or down? What do you think?
The California Department of Public Health, took samples of vegetation at the Cal Poly Dairy Farm in San Luis Obispo on April 1, 2011, to be tested for Fukushima radiation. These samples, however, were not tested until January 6, 2012. There were high levels of both Cesium-134, which identifies it to be from Fukushima and Cesuim-137, but since it was nine months from sample to test, the levels were probably much lower than they would have been, had the test been done in a timely manner. Apparently these results were JUST released to the public in February of this year!
So on up the food chain we go, there have been milk samples tested in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii for radiation, they all show increased levels of Iodine-131, early on (as radioactive Iodine is short-lived) and Cesium-137. The presence of Cesium-137 two to three years after the Fukushima accident in test samples, shows that this situation is here to stay and is more than likely getting worse.
Now to the beef testing, from what I can find there hasn’t been much, at least not publicized. Grass FedThis report is from POTRBLOG, they spent their own money for these tests as information from the FDA and EPA has been limited at best, and since, according to U.C. Berkeley, “safe” radiation levels were raised shortly after the explosions at Fukushima. This begs the question; who is testing our food for Fukushima fallout? Cindy Folkers, with Beyond Nuclear has put together a great video presentation on this topic, examining the lack of testing on the part of many government agencies that one would think to be all over the situation…
The biggest problem, as far as I can see it, is that companies and government agencies overseeing the information that is relayed to the public, make it sound like “radiation below acceptable levels” is OK for you. Well, it’s NOT! There are many studies available, just a few - here, here and here, about the effects of ionizing (man made/nuclear) radiation on human and all other organisms on this planet. NO level of this kind of radiation is safe for any living thing on this planet, please investigate this more for yourself.
