Fukushima Diary : M4.9 Fukushima offshore / Tepco reported the quake in Fukushima plant was fortunately 1/6 “slower” than Daini
Posted by Mochizuki on April 13th, 2014 M4.9 hit Fukushima offshore at 18:16 of 4/13/2014 (JST) according to Japan Meteorological Agency. The maximum seismic intensity was 4 in Naraha machi. The depth of epicenter was 60km. Tepco announced there was no abnormality in plant parameter, and they also reported that the Gal (unit of gravitational acceleration) monitored in Fukushima Dai-ichi plant ( called Fukushima plant usually) was only 1/6 much as Fukushima “Daini” plant. These plants are only approx. 10km away from each other. From Tepco’s seismometer, the gravitational acceleration was 4.1 Gal horizontally and 4.4 Gal vertically in reactor6 Fukushima Dai-ichi. On the other hand, it was 30 Gal horizontally and 25 Gal vertically in reactor1 Fukushima “Daini” plant. The Gal readings in Fukushima Dai-ichi are reported to be 1/7 ~ 1/6 times much as “Daini”. It looks like the earthquake avoided the fragile plant as if it had the intelligence. Tepco hasn’t made any explanation about this. www.tepco.co.jp/cc/press/2014/1235533_5851.htmlwww.jma.go.jp/en/quake/20140413182140395-131816.htmlIori Mochizuki fukushima-diary.com/2014/04/m4-9-fukushima-offshore-tepco-reported-the-quake-in-fukushima-plant-was-fortunately-16-slower-than-daini/
