Fukushima Diary : Monitoring post closest to reactor4 “malfunctioned”→Back up post “malfunctioned”→40 mins of “recording blank” Posted by Mochizuki on April 6th, 2014
One of the monitoring posts malfunctioned on 4/4/2014, according to Tepco. The monitoring post is to measure the radiation level on the plant area border, where is the closest to reactor4.
They switched it to the back up post, however it malfunctioned as well. Tepco ended up sending a human worker to measure the radiation level, however they missed the record of the radiation level for 40 minutes.
When the human worker started measuring the radiation level, the dose level was 2.5 μSv/h, which is the same as just before the monitoring post malfunctioned, Tepco announced.
Tepco stated the monitoring post went back on about one hour later, however the cause isn’t announced. It is unknown what happened during the “missing” 40 mins.
